Graduate Surveyor

Having looked at a number of firms I decided to work for Grosvenor because of its core values, its commitment to the way it does business and its commitment to its employees. It has a well renowned reputation for career development, in particular its graduates and their APC qualification. Grosvenor is a prestigious, highly respected organisation with interests throughout the world, providing a number of opportunities for working in different fields within the property industry.

I have just completed my first year at Grosvenor spending six months in the offices team and then six months in the retail team. I currently work in the retail lease management team for the London estate. I have been involved in a number of rent reviews, lease renewals, valuations and the day to day management of these properties.

Working in small teams has meant that in both departments I have had a high level of exposure to customers on the Estate. Grosvenor is excellent at giving its graduates responsibility from the beginning, which makes for a steep but very rewarding learning curve. This level of responsibility is incredibly valuable but it certainly comes with its own set of challenges!

I have received fantastic support since I arrived at Grosvenor. My colleagues in both teams have been great at providing me a variety of work to complete and answering my numerous questions as and when they arise! My supervisors and councillor have also been excellent in assisting me with gaining the appropriate experience needed to help me feel confident in sitting the APC next September.

My typical day involves time spent both in the office answering emails and telephone calls and being out on the estate viewing properties or attending meetings. I really enjoy the variety involved with the role as a graduate surveyor.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Grosvenor, both in the past year and the internship I completed in summer 2008. I have gained so much in such a short time and continue to learn all the time. I would certainly recommend Grosvenor to anybody looking to work within the property industry.
