Research is at the heart of Grosvenor’s thinking. No significant decisions in relation to property investment, fund management or development are made without it. Of course, the collective experience of Grosvenor people is also a significant influence on business decisions. Nevertheless, research is vital in validating business cases, providing quantitative risk assessments and making other short, medium and long term forecasts. Grosvenor’s actions, at every level, are influenced by this type of rigorous input. We share our research with clients, partners, government bodies and the wider world.

Our approach is based on excellent economic understanding, statistical rigour, market awareness, long term view and a global perspective. Our output is presented clearly, creatively and concisely. Objectivity and professionalism is paramount: Our experienced team produces innovative research and insights, using analytical tools that are not available elsewhere.

Working with other teams adds value, particularly in financial analysis and reporting, appraisal and valuation and business development. We do not think we ‘have all the answers’, either in the generation of strategic or market insights or the application of research findings to business situations. We maintain research independence, as we aim to test ideas, not slavishly validate them, and this provides a corporate safeguard, which is an important element of the Grosvenor brand.

Grosvenor research maintains strong links with academia: for example, sponsoring the Grosvenor Professor of Real Estate Finance at Cambridge and conference participation.

Our current research agenda includes a wide array of projects in the areas of: forecasting, capital markets, investment strategy, market pricing and stock selection, risk analysis, market research and performance analysis
