My Calgary

A personal view by Laura Keirstead

"Calgary is a city that has been fueled by the energy industry; with more head offices per capita than any other city in Canada. The city has grown tremendously over the last ten years, but has maintained a small town feel. A vibrant culture is created by the strong culinary scene, passion for local sports teams and the famous Calgary Stampede. Calgary is truly a great city to work and play. "

Grosvenor's city insights

  1. Savvy scholars

About 73% of Calgarians have attended a post-secondary educational institution; this is the highest proportion of any city in Canada.

  2. Vibrant urban neighbourhoods

Calgary’s young population lives in vibrant urban areas including Una Pizza in Beltline and Anejo in Mission.

  3. Recreation on the doorstep

Calgary’s residents are less than an hour’s drive from Banff and Canmore for some great outdoor activities including skiing, hiking and biking.

Stampede supporters

Since 1912 Calgary has hosted the annual 'Stampede,' one of the largest outdoor rodeo exhibitions in the world. For 10 days every July, the city comes alive with western spirit and hospitality, hosting over a million local and international guests.
