Grosvenor launches the Guildhall Apartments at Southampton's new arts complex

Grosvenor launched The Guildhall Apartments, the residential component of Southampton’s new arts complex, to the market at an event in the city with Savills this morning. The Guildhall Apartments comprises 38 homes in the midst of the city’s new Cultural Quarter and will be completed in spring 2015. The properties range from one bedroom apartments starting at £140,000 to three bedroom homes from £310,000. The majority have a private terrace.

Grosvenor launched The Guildhall Apartments, the residential component of Southampton’s new arts complex, to the market at an event in the city with Savills this morning. The Guildhall Apartments comprises 38 homes in the midst of the city’s new Cultural Quarter and will be completed in spring 2015. The properties range from one bedroom apartments starting at £140,000 to three bedroom homes from £310,000. The majority have a private terrace.

Commenting on the launch, Simon Armstrong, Project Director at Grosvenor, said: “Grosvenor’s aspiration in Southampton is to deliver a scheme where people could live, work and visit, all of which helps contribute to the vibrancy of the Cultural Quarter. Councillor Simon Letts, Leader of Southampton City Council, said: “The launch of the Guildhall Apartments marks a significant milestone in the city’s Arts Complex scheme.  It means that we are getting ever closer to their completion and the handover of the arts complex building for fit-out.  This is the first of the council’s seven VIP projects to be completed, meeting a number of aspirations from our City Centre Master Plan.  It will bolster the city’s economic stance on the south coast, while creating a cultural centre, long term jobs and homes; a superb example of city centre living, with beautiful views and an ever increasing range of excellent facilities, literally on the doorstep.”

Each apartment has been carefully designed by architects CZWG to make the most of the space and the views. The apartments will benefit from high quality interiors, including underfloor heating and engineered timber flooring, as well as top of the range fixtures and fittings. These include integrated Bosch appliances in the kitchens, Krieder kitchen units and Hansgrohe fixtures in the bathrooms. The Guildhall Apartments will also benefit from 31 basement car parking spaces and there will be secure bicycle storage in the basement for each unit.

The Guildhall Apartments are scheduled to complete and be ready for occupation in spring 2015. Following a 12 month fit out programme, the arts complex is due to open in 2016. The £40 million arts complex scheme will provide over 300 direct jobs and is expected to bring 750,000 visitors to the city every year.

The new art complex scheme also incorporates seven restaurant/retail units, alongside facilities for City Eye, the University of Southampton’s John Hansard Gallery and a multi-purpose performing arts centre with two flexible performance spaces and a dance studio.

Southampton’s Cultural Quarter is one of seven VIP projects for Southampton, as identified within Southampton City Council's 'City Centre Master Plan', which will be developed over the next 20 years, to rejuvenate and promote economic growth within the city.
