The Barton Oxford LLP, a partnership between Oxford City Council and Grosvenor Developments Limited, has secured reserved matters planning approval for the public realm and infrastructure works which lay the foundation for the first phase of development at its Barton Park development.

Commenting on the news, Alex Robinson, Senior Development Manager at Grosvenor Developments Limited, said: “This Reserved Matters Approval is vitally important for the scheme.  It establishes the essence of Barton Park by founding the high quality public spaces of the squares and linear park, the connectivity through the scheme to surrounding communities, allowing Barton Park to be enjoyed by all.  It reaffirms the commitment to minimising impacts of the development through well thought through engineering solutions. We expect to start our first phase of enabling works in late spring.”

Barton Park Master Plan

Councillor Bob Price, Leader of Oxford City Council, said: “We can start to look forward confidently to our first homeowners moving in next year, and the new facilities for Barton beginning to appear on the ground. We’re planning to build a garden suburb with high environmental standards and excellent houses to buy and to rent. It’s a great start to regeneration on the whole Barton estate.”

Barton Park secured outline planning consent for the new neighbourhood in September 2013. The development will include 885 new homes, a new primary school, food store, community hub and a new linear park.

In January, the Barton Oxford LLP announced that the housebuilder, Hill - crowned Medium-Sized Housebuilder of the Year at The Housebuilder Awards 2014 - has been selected to develop the first phase of new homes at Barton Park. Subject to planning, Hill will start on site in 2016.
