Christian Marroni appointed Group Communications Director for Grosvenor Group and Wheatsheaf Group

Christian Marroni has been appointed Group Communications Director supporting Grosvenor Group and Wheatsheaf Group, the two corporate operating businesses of the Grosvenor Estate.

20th June 2016

Christian joins from international law firm Linklaters, where he was ‎Global Head of Corporate Communications. He brings with him a wealth of experience in communications, having worked with legal and accounting firms and as a consultant to various blue chip clients.

The Grosvenor Estate, which represents all the business activities of the Grosvenor family, has three key elements; Grosvenor Group Limited, Wheatsheaf Group Limited and the Family Investment Office.

Christian will work closely with Jane Sandars, Trusts Director, who will retain responsibility for the Family Investment Office communications and who continues as Director of the Westminster Foundation, through which the charitable activities of the Grosvenor family and Grosvenor Estate are managed. They will both work closely with Camilla Faith, HR Director, who joined in September 2015, on internal communications and culture.

Christian succeeds Fenella Gentleman, Group Communications Director of Grosvenor Group Limited, who is leaving after ten successful years to concentrate on her writing career.  In addition to creating the press office function, Fenella oversaw the rebranding of Grosvenor with the ‘Living cities’ strapline, led a succession of thought leadership projects, and championed transparent reporting on a wider range of metrics.

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Preston, Grosvenor Group CEO and, Executive Trustee designate of the Grosvenor Estate, said:

“Christian has a strong track record in communications and he brings a wealth of expertise to our businesses. He has just the skills needed to amplify the professional approach to communications that has been led so effectively by Fenella Gentleman over the past decade. We all wish Fenella much success with the next stage of her career and look forward to working with Christian as he extends the corporate communications function to encompass Wheatsheaf’s growing business.”

Christian will report to Mark Preston, CEO of Grosvenor Group Limited, and to Graham Ramsbottom, CEO of Wheatsheaf Group Limited.

Notes to Editors

Grosvenor Group

Grosvenor, one of the world’s largest private international property groups, works in some of most dynamic cities around the globe.

We are guided by our ‘Living cities’ philosophy; we strive to create, manage and invest in properties and places that contribute to the enduring success of the cities in which we work.

With 300 years’ experience as steward of our London estate, we believe we can help cities grow and evolve in ways that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable. We aim to make a long term contribution to these cities’ future success by using creative design, high quality building materials and innovative environmental solutions in our development projects, and through intelligent management of our property assets. In doing so, we strive to create places in which people will want to live, work and enjoy their free time.

By taking a long term approach, we are able to combine our global expertise with local knowledge and cultural understanding. We want our projects to reflect the spirit of the individual city and to foster thriving communities. We work closely with local communities, businesses and civic authorities, and with our partners, consultants and other developers to achieve this.

Today we have 17 offices in 11 countries and assets in 17 countries. We have regional investment and development businesses in Britain & Ireland, the Americas and Asia Pacific, and will soon launch a fourth, Grosvenor Europe, on 1 July 2016.  We also have indirect investments, managed centrally. As at 31 December 2015, the Group had total assets under management of £13.1bn.

Unusually for a private company, Grosvenor publishes a detailed reporting suite - Annual Review, Financial Statements and a Non-Financial Data Report – all available at: www.grosvenor.com.
