Phase 1 of the highly anticipated mixed use development is due to complete in late 2017. The addition of Meinhardt Fine Foods and Heirloom Vegetarian Restaurant speaks to Grosvenor’s promise to provide a unique experiential and service related retail offering at Grosvenor Ambleside to meet the needs of the local community.
The two established Vancouver brands were carefully selected to align with the boutique-style experience planned for the development. Grosvenor’s vision for the project is to contribute to the surrounding Ambleside neighbourhood by offering an elevated experience to the community. Beginning in 2011, Grosvenor hosted a series of Ideas Fairs that engaged hundreds of local residents, business associations and schools. Grosvenor worked extensively with the neighbourhood to understand the specific types of retail tenants the community desired to see at Grosvenor Ambleside. The valuable information collected led to the selection of these two exciting retailers that will contribute to the vibrancy in the area and welcome the community back to Ambleside’s waterfront.
Known as Vancouver’s Original Gourmet Market, locally operated Meinhardt Fine Foods opened its original location in the South Granville shopping district two decades ago, in 1996, and a second location at Pacific Centre in September of 2015. The iconic gourmet market’s third location at Grosvenor Ambleside will provide the community with a new and refreshing way to shop by offering fine imported products, gourmet offerings and other specialty foods. The new location will also serve the surrounding area with a robust grocery delivery service that will allow freshly prepared Meinhardt Meals to be delivered to the front doors of residents at Grosvenor Ambleside and the surrounding neighbourhood.

Heirloom Vegetarian Restaurant, the well-known local establishment that has helped redefined the vegetarian dining experience, will be a welcome addition to the offering at Grosvenor Ambleside. The restaurant will lend a contemporary experience consisting of thoughtfully selected and fairly traded ingredients. The established brand, which opened the doors of its first location on South Granville in 2012, offers a menu that provides an exceptional selection of enticing and healthy meals, all of which are either vegetarian or vegan.
"While looking to expand and evolve the Heirloom brand, we fell in love with Ambleside. When this space and opportunity came to us, we saw the potential right away,” says Gus Greer, Vice Principal at Heirloom Restaurant. “We're tailoring the restaurant to the neighbourhood and making it more accessible with an on-the-go experience as well as traditional dining. Our new location will also be the first to wake up the local community in Ambleside with a daily coffee and breakfast offering. We love the West Vancouver community and feel extremely excited and lucky to bring our Heirloom plant-based healthy goodness to Ambleside and West Vancouver."

The two retailers join the previously announced Earls’ new restaurant concept among the retail offering, which will include a variety of boutique shops and services. The development, embracing the highest standard of contemporary West Coast architecture, art, and culture, will consist of 99 individually designed homes along the waterfront of the 1300 block of Marine Drive. Two architecturally distinguished concrete buildings will be joined by a glass-covered galleria, creating a new pedestrian path from Marine Drive to Bellevue Avenue that will provide a view corridor and access to the beach and seawall. The galleria will also host artistic and musical performances programmed by the Kay Meek Centre for Performing Arts, reflecting West Vancouver’s unique sense of community.
