About José Escobar
José joins Grosvenor to lead development projects across Continental Europe. He has extensive experience in construction and development throughout Europe, beginning his career in Madrid where he worked with Lend Lease, Immobilaria Chamartin and also Grosvenor, on the Grosvenor Lar joint venture partnership in 2003.
Recently, José has been based in Paris with Accor, managing major international refurbishment projects in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Eastern Europe, as well as in the Middle East. He has also acted as an independent consultant on projects based in Paris and London and is a qualified architect.
José comments: “Having previously worked with Grosvenor in Spain, I am thrilled to have rejoined such an ambitious team. We are active in some of the most vibrant locations in Europe and there are many opportunities to contribute to the long term growth of local communities through the creation of much needed housing, modern commercial space and public realm improvements. I am pleased to be able to contribute my development experience as we mature this part of the business.”
About Maria Kaye
Maria joins Grosvenor’s Stockholm office in an asset management and development role. One of Maria’s priorities will be to manage municipality contacts for the business’ Swedish assets, and she will also explore opportunities for residential development within the portfolio.
Maria’s career has included international experience in Hong Kong and Thailand where she worked with Hutchison Whampoa, KPMG and Macquarie Bank and on a range of hotel, luxury villa and condominium developments.
Since 2011 she has been based in Sweden where she led the very successful retail and residential development of Tyresö Centrum, and developed and managed Redito’s first residential project. Maria has also secured a strong network with various municipalities having spent significant time developing zoning plans.
Maria comments: “Grosvenor Europe is in an exciting phase. This is particularly evident in Sweden where the team is looking to make innovative changes to existing shopping malls, developing the role of a shopping centre in society. I am very much looking forward to working with a creative and driven team that has a long term approach in order to benefit the places in which we are active.”
Giles Wintle, CIO, Grosvenor Europe, comments: “José and Maria are experienced, successful professionals who will help us to drive our new business strategy. Their expertise complements that of our existing team and will enhance our ability to plan and deliver new development projects, both at existing assets and as we look for new opportunities. They will also help to strengthen our relationships with current and future partners.”
