Grosvenor set to deliver retail rebirth on South Molton St as fashion favourite Hill and Friends open first global store

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland (‘Grosvenor') has today, with the signing of globally-recognised, luxury retailer Hill and Friends, confirmed its intention to reposition and grow South Molton Street, just off Oxford Street and a few steps from Bond Street, as one of London’s most successful retail streets.

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland (‘Grosvenor') has today, with the signing of globally-recognised, luxury retailer Hill and Friends, confirmed its intention to reposition and grow South Molton Street, just off Oxford Street and a few steps from Bond Street, as one of London’s most successful retail streets.

Hill and Friends, the first of several independent, luxury brand signings set to be announced by Grosvenor this autumn, will kick off plans to make South Molton Street a ‘destination’ street for national and international visitors.

The start-up fashion brand founded by Emma Hill CBE and Georgia Fendley in 2015 celebrates its 2 year anniversary this month. Already a firm favourite with fashion insiders and a fixture in some of the world’s most prestigious department stores, Hill and Friends is building on its impressive growth in web and wholesale sales with its first dedicated retail space in Mayfair, at the heart of the West End.

Grosvenor controls just under a third of South Molton Street with a total of 17 units. The company believes its retail ambitions will strengthen its recently-published 20 year vision for its London assets. It wants its estate in Mayfair and Belgravia to be more active, more open and more integrated – a more popular place.

Grosvenor’s retail portfolio in Mayfair and Belgravia occupies 1.75 million square feet and, valued at c. £1.4 billion, represents approximately a third of the entire London estate’s value.

A diverse mix of tenants are located in 546 units owned by Grosvenor, of which 432 are directly managed by the company. Around half of the estate’s rental income depends on independent retailers and is backed by a growing leasing pipeline for new retail, restaurant, leisure and amenities.
