Renowned restaurateur and sommelier Xavier Rousset brings his latest venture, new restaurant Café Comptoir & Wine, to the streets of North Mayfair on Grosvenor’s London estate this April.   Offering all-day dining of seasonal food, artisan coffee and a wine list curated by Rousset himself, Café Comptoir & Wine will be an impressive and welcoming destination for weary shoppers and local residents alike.

Rousset left his post as head sommelier at Raymond Blanc’s famous Oxfordshire establishment, ‘Le Manoir aux Quatre Saisons’, and shortly after became the youngest ever recipient of the title Master Sommelier. Since his move to London, Xavier Rousset has been behind successes such as Marylebone’s Michelin-starred ‘Texture’ and the group of three 2850 restaurants in Marylebone,
Mayfair and The City.

His latest venture Café Comptoir & Wine, the sister restaurant to renowned Blandford Comptoir in Marylebone, is an independent and unique addition to the streets of North Mayfair. Sitting perfectly alongside other Weighhouse Street destinations including Thom Sweeney and MaE from Ella Mills, Café Comptoir & Wine firmly cements the link from the Bond Street Crossrail station on the east side to the west side retail havens of Duke and North Audley Streets.  Keith Bailey, Location Director for Mayfair at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “Café Comptoir & Wine will be a great addition to North Mayfair and our London estate, providing a welcome sanctuary to those that live and work in the area as well as to those looking for a moment’s respite from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street or a busy shopping spree along nearby Duke Street.”

Café Comptoir & Wine will bring together seasonal ingredients and quality suppliers with the sense of home-from-home familiarity. Serving early morning breakfast signature dishes from Eggs Benedict to home-made granolas, through to ceviche, salads and hot dishes until the late hours, Café Comptoir & Wine will serve as the go-to for breakfast meetings, lunch stops and relaxing evenings.

In addition, Rousset’s expertly compiled wine list is replicated in the cosy basement wine cellar, a treasure trove of 1000 wines from across the globe suiting all palettes, with the opportunity to purchase and enjoy by the bottle at home. 100 bins of Champagne can also be enjoyed upstairs in the restaurant for a £10 corkage fee.

Rousset, who has personally curated the vast selection, says, “I’m excited to be offering some superb wines, ranging from classic Burgundies to quirkier and rare varieties from Sicily – all ready for drinking now, at extremely reasonable prices.”

The wine shop will also incorporate an intimate space for private tastings and events suitable for up to 30 people standing or 12 seated, making it an excellent spot to enjoy a quiet glass in London’s busy West End. A regularly changing range of options in tone with the seasonal choices of the restaurant will make for a popular destination for the local community, wine lovers and an exciting discovery for passers-by.
