Grosvenor Britain & Ireland ('Grosvenor') has today confirmed its Living Communities Fund, set up to support and improve the lives of people in Westminster, has reached an endowment worth over £1 million.

The Fund is deployed to grow young people’s employability, increase wellbeing across a number of demographics and build community cohesion through effective agency support. It distributes grants totalling around £50,000 a year to community groups and programmes in South Westminster. More than 3,000 residents in South Westminster have benefitted directly.

Francis Salway, Chairman of the London Community Foundation, said: “I would like to thank Grosvenor for achieving this significant milestone in their work with us. The projects and organisations championed by the Living Communities Fund since its inception in 2014 are a vital source of support to those most in need in the local community. Establishing an endowment fund of this size is evidence of Grosvenor’s generous commitment to sustain this support over the long term.”

The Fund has amongst other things:

  • Provided funding for employability training for young people in Westminster;
  • Supported people with dementia;
  • Reduced isolation and grown wellbeing by bringing people together with arts-related activities;
  • Supported local youth clubs;
  • Organised activities for children to spur their development with new experiences;
  • Supported marginalised and vulnerable families with family support networks;
  • Given leadership training to 13-18 year olds;
  • Helped those who have experienced stress, anxiety and low-level depression; and
  • Supported mentors to those with disabilities, offering guidance on accessing employment services and providing arts-related activities.

Emily Hamilton, Sustainability Manager, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “We believe small, grassroots community groups bring about social change in important and effective ways, so we wanted to establish a fund that could support local people to do just that. The expert, insightful team at The London Community Foundation has been critical to bringing our ambitions to life.”
