Grosvenor Appoints Director of Climate Positive Solutions

In delivering a sector leading climate positive response, Andy will enable Grosvenor to respond to the latest climate science. He will be responsible for developing best practice policy and technical solutions on projects such as science-based targets, TCFD, energy efficiency in buildings and embodied carbon in developments.

We are working to a series of ambitions environmental sustainability goals:

  • Zero carbon: By 2030, we will achieve net zero carbon from its buildings, developments and supply chain. Our full portfolio will be climate positive before 2050.
  • Zero waste: By 2030, we’ll send zero non-hazardous waste to landfill from our buildings and developments in our control.
  • Valuing nature: By 2030, our portfolio will have achieved a significant net biodiversity gain. By 2050, we will be water neutral.
  • Bringing our partners with us: By 2030 all our suppliers will be compliant with our Supply Chain Charter through collaboration, innovation and supportive networks.

In December 2020, we published Think Zero, our pathway to achieving net zero carbon by 2030. In 2021, the business will publish science-based targets.

Previously Andy was Senior Sustainability Manager, Canary Wharf Contractors where he achieved board approval for progressive science-based targets and led on their signing of the BBP Climate Change Commitment.  Before this he held a range of sustainability roles at Sir Robert McAlpine, leading the team between 2017 and 2019.

Tor Burrows, Executive Director of Sustainability & Innovation at Grosvenor said: “Meeting the climate challenge will ensure the long-term success of the places we manage and the communities we work with.

“Our ambitious goals can only be achieved through partnership with occupiers, suppliers, peers and policy makers. Andy’s collaborative approach and expertise will help us accelerate and adapt our response.”

Andy Haigh, added “Never before has the climate emergency been more apparent, and never before has the demand for action been greater. Grosvenor has risen to this challenge by setting a bold commitment to being net zero carbon by 2030 and climate positive by 2050. A commitment which brings their suppliers, tenants and broader community with them on the journey. I am excited about the opportunity to help them fulfil this industry leading ambition.”
