Grosvenor Britain & Ireland to invest in UK regional opportunities

Focus on development and value add partnerships across the UK

GBI will invest in development and value-add opportunities across the UK in the next 12-18 months.

Working with local specialists, we will co-fund and contribute expertise to opportunities which address local needs and meet our public commitment to driving financial, environmental and social value in the communities in which it is active.

In line with our aim of tackling the UK housing crisis, residential-led schemes, including senior living and related mixed-use opportunities are of particular interest. Commercial-led schemes, including retail repositioning opportunities, that drive significant social value will also be a focus of the strategy.

We will expect all opportunities and partners to work towards its 2030 and 2050 sustainability goals covering net zero carbon, zero waste and enhancing biodiversity.

The investments will be identified and delivered by our Grosvenor Developments team, which manages all our activity outside of central London. The team expects to invest in the range of

£10-30 million of equity in each opportunity with a focus on cities and large towns, alongside Greater London.

Jorge Mendonça, Executive Director, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “We need to continue to invest more in homes and new places that support jobs, economic growth and wellbeing. However, significant projects require well-funded long-term investors able to see through economic cycles, and with an ingrained partnership approach; all of which Grosvenor has an exceptional track record in.

“Focussing on partnership opportunities in the regions which address some of the most significant gaps in the UK’s real estate needs sits well with our ethos and purpose as a business.”

To support this programme, we have appointed Arrif Ali as Director of New Business in Grosvenor Developments. Arrif, previously of Cain International and Heron International will lead strategy development and delivery of all investment opportunities.

Commenting, Arrif Ali added: “With this strategy we have an open mandate to pursue opportunities that align with our values and expertise as a business and where we can make a meaningful contribution to community outcomes beyond co-funding. Our decisions will be both based on the quality of the partner as well as the opportunity.
