Grosvenor Hart Homes launches £100m acquisition drive

  • Social enterprise aims to expand its portfolio to 750 homes, with a particular focus across the North West
  • Growth plans will seek to support 2,000 children and deliver £100m in public savings over the next decade

Grosvenor Hart Homes, the social enterprise and registered provider initiated by the Duke of Westminster, today announced plans to expand its footprint across the North West as it looks to improve the life chances of vulnerable children, young people, and their families.

Launched in 2023, Grosvenor Hart Homes’ outcomes-focused housing model combines three critical foundations: high-quality homes, employment support and wellbeing/mental health support. Tailored to individual needs, this combination of services, paired with high-quality, affordable housing, has been designed to empower residents to overcome disadvantage and achieve better life outcomes.

To ensure residents receive appropriate support, Grosvenor Hart Homes employs a specialist multi-disciplinary team with expertise in housing, children’s social care and mental health. This team helps address barriers to employment, financial stability and health education, all as part of an inclusive and supportive community.

By focusing on early, multi-agency intervention, Grosvenor Hart Homes is on course to save the public purse £2.3m since the commencement of its pilot programme in Chester, demonstrating the societal benefits of coalescing appropriate services alongside a high-quality home and the potential savings that the scaling up of the approach would offer the country.

Building on this initial success, the organisation plans to make significant investments over the next 10 years to provide more homes in Chester, the north west of England as well as central London. The social enterprise is now seeking to engage with private developers, contractors and other registered providers as it looks to expand its portfolio, with a particular focus on Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and South Lancashire.

In line with Grosvenor Hart Homes’ commitment to creating inclusive, high-quality communities, preferred properties should be tenure-blind, well-located near amenities, and scheduled for delivery within the next 12 to 36 months. A range of acquisition options is available depending on circumstances.

Commenting on the call for sites, Grosvenor Hart Homes CEO Helen Keenan said:

“In just a few short years, we have demonstrated that our approach can be life-changing for residents and generate significant savings for the state.

“We are well capitalised and have ambitious plans to sustainably grow our model. I would encourage prospective partners who share our philosophy to engage with us and help us deliver our pioneering housing and support model.”
