Increasing wellbeing

We believe that when communities feel safe, connected and included, they are more successful and sustainable – and we play an important role in making this possible. That’s why we invest in understanding local needs, amplifying community voices and designing places that work for everyone.

Across our neighbourhoods, we use robust insight, long-term partnerships and inclusive design principles to ensure our actions genuinely respond to what matters most to residents, workers and visitors. By working collaboratively with local organisations, young people, businesses and experts, we help strengthen community resilience, broaden participation and improve access to opportunities.

Outlined below are the key ways we’re putting this approach into practice – from measuring wellbeing to shaping engagement and ensuring our properties and public spaces are welcoming and accessible for all.

Our People Positive Wellbeing Index tracks 20 national ONS measures of wellbeing alongside benchmark data to identify local need and understand how our places perform. Hearing everyone’s point of view is very important to us, so as well as on-street, online surveys and community workshops, we recruited four 16-19 year olds from Westminster to work alongside us as youth researchers – read more here.

Priorities for Mayfair and Belgravia identified through our comprehensive research are perceptions of safety, sense of community and access to green space. Interventions to address these include charity partnerships to support vulnerable residents, safety workshops with local BIDs and the Metropolitan Police, and opening our private gardens to more than 1,000 children and community groups each year.

Our People Positive Fund supports community wellbeing by funding grassroots organisations that tackle these priorities and reach those most in need. This fund is managed by The London Community Foundation who Grosvenor has partnered with for ten years, during which time we’ve granted £960,000+ to projects benefitting Westminster communities.

We are inviting local businesses and partners to join us by contributing to the fund, as well as prospective applicants to register their interest.

Our Community Engagement Charter sets a high standard for meaningful and inclusive engagement across our business.

In December 2025, we will launch an updated Engagement Charter aligned with our People Positive strategy and accompanied by a practical toolkit to make it easier for others across the sector to engage meaningfully.

To measure impact, we track community satisfaction on individual projects and through our annual survey.

3. Ensure our properties and places are inclusive and accessible

We want our properties and public spaces to be welcoming and usable for everyone and are taking various steps to helps ensure that accessibility and inclusion are considered from the outset, not as an afterthought.

Our Inclusive Places and Spaces report highlights the economic and social case for inclusive design, alongside five commitments and practical tools to support delivery. Since launching, we have:

  • Convened a lived experience panel to review new developments
  • Equipped our development teams with an Inclusive Design Brief
  • Partnered with Sociability to map accessibility across key streets, supporting disabled communities to navigate local places with confidence
