When Harry moved into his Grosvenor Hart Homes (GHH) home at the age of 18, he had already carried adult responsibilities for far too long. After experiencing bereavement, parental absence, and the loss of his family home, he’d been living in temporary accommodation with friends and managing bills, studies, and daily life largely on his own. Despite his resilience, he needed stability ─ a safe base where he could focus on building his future rather than simply coping with the present. As a general‑needs tenant, GHH offered him lighter‑touch support, while dialling it up in the areas where Harry needed it most.

From day one, GHH provided steady guidance to make sure Harry felt confident managing his tenancy. The CYPF  practitioner helped him personalise his flat, understand utilities and repairs, set up direct debits, and sort out Universal Credit and housing benefit issues. Regular check‑ins, both in person and by text, gave Harry the chance to talk openly about low moods and stressful periods. Alongside this, mental‑health support ensured he had someone to turn to when things felt heavier, helping him build emotional resilience and recognise his own progress.

As the months went on, Harry truly began to thrive. He maintained strong routines, kept his home in excellent condition, built positive relationships within the GHH community, and was often described as a role model ─ mature, polite, and ’old beyond his years’. He balanced work, volunteering, and planning his next steps with quiet determination. With support from GHH, he resolved rent issues, transitioned from benefits to paid employment, and prepared for his move to university, completing every step with organisation and pride.

Today, Harry is beginning an exciting new chapter studying mechanical engineering at university ─ a goal he has worked towards with focus and ambition. His time with GHH gave him more than stable housing: it offered a launchpad. With confidence, strong routines, and a growing sense of independence, Harry leaves his GHH home ready for the future he’s always believed he could build.
