"It's changed us all for the better having your input...I can't tell you how grateful I am. Honestly."
– Melody
Melody’s life was marked by trauma ─ mental health struggles, substance misuse, and domestic abuse. Her daughter Lyla had been in foster care, and the family’s future felt uncertain. In July 2023, Lyla was reunited with her mother and younger brother, and in 2024, they moved into a Grosvenor Hart Homes (GHH) home.
GHH provided wraparound support: weekly emotional sessions for Lyla, school transition help, and referrals for autism and young carer assessments. Melody received trauma-informed parenting guidance, emotional regulation strategies, and practical help with benefits and budgeting.
We adapted her home for safety, supported Melody through legal and financial systems, and coordinated multi-agency meetings to ensure everyone worked together.
"The professionals involved seem to be a cohesive multi-agency network…which has resulted in an incredible package of support being implemented for Melody and Lyla, allowing them to thrive and meet their full potential." – Lyla’s Children’s Guardian.
The outcomes speak volumes: After 12 months with GHH, Lyla’s Care Order was discharged in June 2025, recognising Melody’s growth as a parent. Melody gained confidence in managing her mental health and established consistent boundaries with the children to support their behaviour more effectively.
Lyla developed resilience and self-regulation skills and is now attending school regularly. She engages enthusiastically and has formed new friendships, participating regularly in school-based activities with confidence.
Their home is calmer, routines are stable, and Melody is exploring employment and engaging with her community. Financial planning and home adaptations have secured their independence and stability.
Today, Melody’s home is a place of safety and hope – a testament to her strength and GHH’s unwavering support.
