William is advisor to or a director of a number of entrepreneurial or family owned businesses.  As CEO,  he led the development and subsequent sale of both The New Covent Garden Soup Company and Green & Black’s and he now chairs drinks business Cawston Press. 

He sits on the boards of several private growth businesses in various sectors. He is a director of the larger businesses: Samworth Brothers and  Keystone Positive Change Investment Trust plc and is  a Trustee of Gascoyne Cecil Estates. Within Grosvenor he is a director of  Grosvenor Food & AgTech (formerly known as Wheatsheaf Group). 

After reading law at Cambridge University, William qualified and practiced as a barrister and then worked as an investment banker before studying for an MBA at INSEAD. He is a Trustee of The Suffolk Community Foundation and is a Deputy Lieutenant of that county. He farms organically in East Anglia and works and campaigns on a wide range of issues connected with food and the countryside.
