Grosvenor Europe given go ahead to develop proposals for hundreds of new homes in Stockholm

The redevelopment of the area around Skärholmen Centrum will form part of a strategy to strengthen its role as a regional city centre that offers a mix of services, experiences, entertainment and housing, as well as retail. Amongst the plans, Grosvenor will investigate the possibility of delivering 600 new homes in the area and improving the urban environment.

Carl Strufve, Director, Nordics, Grosvenor Europe, comments: “Our vision is to strengthen Skärholmen Centrum’s role as the southern centre of Stockholm. With this decision, we have full support to develop our vision into concrete proposals, and make this vibrant city centre even more attractive to a wider catchment area.”

The plans for Skärholmen form part of a regional development plan for Stockholm, RUFS2050. According to the government plan, the area will become one of the most vibrant metropolitan areas in Europe, with an attractive mix of trade, work, housing, culture and recreation. Infrastructure investments, including the expansion of the Stockholm bypass, and a new tramway, will also improve accessibility.

The new zoning plan is expected to be legally enacted in the first quarter of 2023.

In Stockholm, Grosvenor Europe owns and manages Bålsta Centrum, Skärholmen Centrum, Väsby Centrum, Haninge Centrum and Lidingö Centrum.
