Grosvenor Property UK appoints Jonathan Rae as Chief Financial Officer

Grosvenor Property UK (GPUK) has appointed Jonathan Rae as its new Chief Financial Officer. Jonathan joined the business on 11 May 2026 and will succeed Debbie Lee, who will transition into the role of Grosvenor Chief Financial Officer later this summer following Rob Davis’s decision to retire.

Jonathan brings almost two decades of finance leadership experience in the UK property sector across residential, retail, office and logistics, with a proven track record in funding strategy, investor partnerships, governance and operational delivery. He joins GPUK from PLATFORM_, the build-to-rent developer and operator, where he held the position of Finance Director from 2018.

At PLATFORM_, Jonathan played a pivotal role in scaling the business from approximately 600 to over 4,000 apartments across its operational portfolio and secured development pipeline, working with multiple institutional investors. He led debt and equity funding arrangements across a £1.3 billion gross development value portfolio, oversaw joint venture relationships and held responsibility for corporate finance, tax, reporting, IT and HR. He also contributed to the company’s wider strategy and led the development of its sustainability commitments.

Prior to PLATFORM_, Jonathan spent 11 years at British Land, holding a number of finance leadership roles. These included Head of Retail Finance, with responsibility for financial management across the £7.5 billion retail portfolio, and Head of Investor Relations, where he led engagement with global investors and analysts and advised the Board and Executive Committee on capital markets, strategy and performance. Earlier in his career he held a range of corporate finance and operational finance roles at British Land and began his career at PwC where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Jonathan sits on the Audit and Risk Committee and Finance Committee of Real Estate:UK and the Audit and Risk Committee of Soho Housing. He brings extensive experience of governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement in listed and private real estate environments.

Jamie Whitty-Lewis, Chief Executive of Grosvenor Property UK, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to Grosvenor. He is an exceptional finance leader with deep sector experience and a strong understanding of how capital, operations and long-term stewardship come together to create resilient property businesses. His track record of working with institutional partners and scaling complex portfolios will be invaluable as we continue to deliver our growth strategy and invest for the long term.”

Looking ahead, Grosvenor Property UK is focused on delivering several significant projects to boost the economy in London’s West End, enhance its appeal and improve local wellbeing, including the reopening of Grosvenor Square as a biodiverse urban garden this summer and the completion of its mixed-use development at South Molton next year. The business is also increasing its backing of real estate partners through its private credit offering to help boost housing supply, while accelerating the retrofit of its historic estate to meet net zero targets and deliver positive social impact to help make Mayfair and Belgravia more inclusive.

Jonathan Rae said: “I am delighted to be joining Grosvenor Property UK at such an important moment for the business. GPUK has a clear long-term strategy, a strong culture and a distinctive approach to creating and managing places. I am looking forward to working with the Grosvenor team and supporting the business’ next phase of growth and investment.”

Jonathan will work closely with Debbie Lee ahead of her transition into the role of Grosvenor Chief Financial Officer later this year. Rob Davis will support a smooth transition by continuing to fulfil CFO responsibilities for the Grosvenor Family Office on a part-time basis until a date to be confirmed in 2027.
