Domestic abuse


It is very important to us that you feel safe and secure in your home. However, we know that many people experience domestic abuse every day.

There are several forms of domestic abuse and behaviour is abusive if in involves:

  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Violent or threatening behaviour
  • Controlling or coercive behaviour
  • Economic abuse
  • Psychological, emotional or other abuse.

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone of any age, background, gender, sexuality, religion or race.

We know it can be hard to speak out but you are not alone and we’re here to help if you are experiencing domestic abuse or if you’re worried about someone in your family, a friend or a neighbour.

Who to contact?

At Grosvenor Hart Homes (GHH), we are here to support you. If you are a GHH tenant and you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, please call 01244 563777 or email tenant.support@grosvenorhart.com . You can also ask to speak to a specific member of the GHH team if you feel more comfortable.

In an emergency, if you or someone you know is at risk or harm, please call the police on 999. If you cannot speak and are calling from a mobile phone, press 55 and your call will be transferred to the police.

The following services can also help you:

  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline (run by Refuge): call 0808 2000 247- open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week OR get support through Live Chat (open Monday to Friday 10am-10pm and 10am-6pm on weekends). This helpline provides free, non-judgemental and confidential support.
  • Victim Supportcall the free, 24-hour support line on 0808 168 9111 or start a live chat any time: https://www.victimsupport.org.uk/help-and-support/get-help/support-near-you/live-chat/
  • ManKindfor men experiencing domestic abuse, you can call 0182 3334 244 (Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm) for free, confidential advice
  • Galoppeople who identify as LGBTQ+ can call 0800 999 5428 or email help@galop.org.uk. The helpline is open Monday and Tuesday from 9:15am-8pm and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:15am-4:30pm, closing between 1pm-2pm on each of these days. There is also a webchat which is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:15am-4:15pm.
  • Karma Nirvana: for forced marriage or honour based crimes, call 0800 5999 247 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm)
  • Bright Skythis is a mobile app and website. The app can be downloaded for free from the app stores. Only download the app if it is safe for you to do so and if you are sure that your phone isn’t being monitored
