Sustainability

People. Planet. Positive.

As a long-term business, we integrate sustainability into how we invest, manage places and work with partners. Through practical action on climate, nature and people, we seek to create lasting environmental and social benefits while responding to evolving societal needs.

Our People. Planet. Positive. approach sets out six practical goals that guide how we make decisions, manage our places and measure progress.

They focus our effort on reducing carbon, using resources responsibly, improving nature, supporting local wellbeing and growth, and widening opportunity — working with partners to create healthier, more resilient places where people and nature can thrive.

Urban nature

Increasing the biodiversity and resilience of our places

By restoring nature in our places, we support biodiversity while strengthening how cities function. Biodiverse urban environments can help regulate temperature, manage stormwater, reduce climate risks and improve wellbeing for residents, workers and visitors.

Our goals are to achieve a 20% increase in biodiversity in our managed spaces and a 100% increase in our developments by 2030.

Local growth

Supporting economic growth that benefits local people and businesses

Our approach to local growth is about opening up opportunities for local people and businesses that don’t currently benefit from Westminster’s thriving economy. We do this by creating a mix of spaces for different types of businesses, supporting smaller and local suppliers where appropriate, connecting our customers with local talent, and using our workspace and partnerships to help early-stage businesses overcome barriers to growth.

Sector diversity

Working to create a sector that is inclusive for all

The real estate sector is responsible for creating and managing places that enable society to thrive, yet the industry’s workforce is not representative of the communities it serves. We are working to help change this by expanding early careers initiatives, investing in inclusive hiring practices and growing partnerships to help scale our impact.
