Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements, or STAIRs, is a new government standard for Registered Providers of Social Housing. STAIRs requires landlords like Grosvenor Hart Homes (GHH) to publish certain information online and allows social housing tenants to request access to information about how the landlord is managed.
The scheme is about improving transparency and openness, and empowering social housing tenants to hold their landlords to account for the housing and services they provide.
It is similar to the rights council tenants have to put in Freedom of Information requests to the council.
From 1 October 2026, social housing landlords must have a Publication Scheme, making key information available on their website about how their homes are managed, how decisions are made and landlord performance.
From 1 April 2027, current tenants or their designated representatives will have the right to request additional information about the management of their home and the services provided.
